Condolence From: Stephen Grant
Condolence: I have such fond memories of Ray, both as the father of a good friend, and as one of the best science teachers I had in West Vancouver Secondary School. I remember being excited that I got Ray for Science 10, thinking that it would be a great year - and it was. I will never forget Ray's demonstration of how to properly ground an electrical appliance. He demonstrated with a hand drill. Unfortunately, the demo didn't go well and Ray ended up getting a large shock when he picked up the drill. He started to dance around at the front of the classroom holding the drill in the air. We all thought that this was part of Ray's normal, animated teaching style and laughed along, until we realized that he was being electrocuted. Because of the shock, his hand tensed up and he could not let go of the drill. Once he threw it out of his hands to the floor, we knew that this was not planned. I have never forgotten the lesson ...
We will miss Ray - I always loved his bright, cheery demeanor, and how he was always sincerely interested in what I was doing or what I had to say. Our thoughts are with Claudia and Pierre. Know that Ray's memory will live on with us too.

Condolence From: Kathy Campbell
Condolence: Condolences to Claudia and Pierre. Ray was a 'gym buddy' to many of us at Parkgate. We admired many of his strengths including his positive attitude through life's ups and downs, his determination to continue his 'walks' and his monthly hand/head stands at the gym .... "just so I know I can still do this" he would comment. Nobody could compete with this skill of his.
Ray will be missed at the Parkgate gym.
