Obituary for Gary Mitsuru Nakatsuru

Gary Mitsuru Nakatsuru
Gone too soon. On Monday, September 29, 2014 an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, musician, adventurer, fisherman, entrepreneur, restauranteur, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife, best friend & partner of 20 years. Despite his many accomplishments he remained humble. His infectious smile, unique sense of humour, genuine interest in others endeared him to many. He will be greatly missed.

Predeceased by his parents Hideko and Satoru. Survived by his wife Rose, daughter Chloe, dog Zeus, brothers Dennis (Brenda), Kelly (Karen), sister Sherry (Glenn) & his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews in both B.C. & Ontario.

After all the years of working downtown Gary had a deep connection to the city & all of its occupants. A cause close to Gary’s heart was the mental health of the people living on the streets of Vancouver. He would always say, “Everyone has a story”. In keeping with this, donations in Gary’s memory can be made to RainCity Housing and Support Society, www.raincityhousing.org. Donations will also be collected at the Celebration of Life along with non-perishable food items for the Food bank.

A Celebration of Life for friends & family will be held, Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Commodore Ballroom. Doors will open at 7pm & close at 8pm. The event will begin promptly at 8pm.

The family would like to convey a special thank you to Dr. Tanya Gee for her unwavering home support & spiritual guidance, as well as to the compassionate, caring nurses at Lions Gate hospital & the doctors involved in his care.
