Obituary for Margaret Francis Rowlett

Rowlett, Margaret Frances (Peggy)
September 13, 1937 – August 24, 2017

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Frances Rowlett (nee Dodge). Peggy is survived by her son Eric, daughter Leslie, grandson Colin, sister Doreen, brother David and sister-in-law Joanne as well as four nephews, one niece, one grand-nephew and two grand-nieces. Peggy’s impeccable sense of style set her apart from her peers. Always classy and pulled together, she saw the world through her signature large frame glasses with strength, courage and love. Peggy was strong in the face of a cancer diagnosis in 2003 and became a very rare lung cancer survivor. Never a pessimist, she carried on undaunted. Laughter and a positive attitude carried her through the toughest times and she arrived on the other side of it all stronger than ever. A true lover of the English language, expressing herself was never boring! She always spoke her mind and never minced words. Her talents were endless. She became a very accomplished couturiere tailor, designed her own patterns and made most of her own clothes. She began working at the West Vancouver Senior Centre 30 years ago, teaching a sewing class alongside her best friend Eleanor Jones, retiring from that only a few short years ago. Her last few months were spent very comfortably at Hollyburn House and we would like to thank the wonderful nurses and care aides who took care of her with love and compassion and held her hand as she made her final journey. Please join us in her celebration of life at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church, 1068 Inglewood Ave, West Vancouver at 1:00 PM, September 30, 2017. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to lung cancer research, BC Cancer Society. To write a condolence to the family please visit www.mckenziefuneralservices.com
