Obituary for Anita Verly Paracy

Anita Verly Paracy
Anita Verly Paracy

It’s with great sadness that our family announces the passing of a very special person, Anita Verly Paracy (nee Scott). Born June 1st, 1928 at Greenlawn, Alberta; one of eight children to Anna Lisac Scott and Sydney John Orville Scott. Anita’s family moved to North Vancouver where she enjoyed a career working for BC TEL as an operator on the cord boards. She met, fell in love with, and married Stanley Paracy. They built a home and a life in Lynn Valley, where they raised their children. Anita lived her life well and to the fullest. She touched the lives of all she met with her positive outlook, sense of humour, love of nature and her open heart. Mom was always willing to share her home and her family with those less fortunate. There was always a pot of homemade soup on the stove, and fresh cinnamon buns on the counter. In later years; Anita relocated to Lake Country in Kelowna, where she shared a beautiful life with John Kawin at their home on Bond Road. It came to lovingly known to the family as “The Bonderosa”.
Anita was most proud of her loving family and all of their accomplishments. Predeceased by husband Stan Paracy, son Marty Paracy, and her partner John Kawin; she is survived by sons Rod Paracy, Terry Paracy, daughter Anita MacAulay (Duncan), grandchildren Rod Jr, Tina, Adam, Kyle, Tamara, Jonathan, Tarina (Lester Heinrichs), Trisha (Troy Funk), Karen, Leah (Dan Crawley), and Krystal, Keenyn and Caity, and many great grandchildren who all reflected the love and joy that “Grandma Paracy” shared in abundance.
Our Mom was kind, funny, warm, and wise. She was known as a wonderful cook and a great homemaker, who loved music, reading, gardening and was always ready to try something new, like Hatha Yoga or star gazing at Hawkins Lake.
Always ready to extend a helping hand and take in anyone in need of a meal or a place to stay, or a loving hug; Anita was “Mom” to many more than her actual family.
Loved by all who’s hearts she touched. We will miss her until we meet again. Rest in peace, safe in the arms of Jesus; our sweet Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend. May the angels carry you home.
Special thanks to the staff of Capilano Longterm Care Hospital and Dr. George Chalmers. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Sugar for your compassion and exceptional care. All family and friends are welcome to attend a viewing to be held on the evening of Thursday, April 21st from 7:00 – 8:00 PM at the West Vancouver United Church at 2062 Esquimalt Ave, West Vancouver, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations of a memorial gift in Anita’s name to the Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation would be gratefully appreciated (www.paulsugarfoundation.com or call 778-729-1555, Palliative Support Centre at 3743 Delbrook Ave, North Vancouver).
A Celebration of Anita’s life will be announced in the near future. All family and friends will be lovingly embraced to join us and remember Mom’s life with songs and stories, food and family, because that’s the way she would want it.
