Obituary for Sean Kevin Hanley

Sean Kevin Hanley
It is with profound sadness we announce Sean’s passing. He died suddenly on his 55th birthday of a heart attack on June 10 2015. Sean was born in Vancouver to Joyce and Wesley Hanley, of West Vancouver, and lived his entire life on the North Shore.

The core of Sean’s life was his family. The pure joy that his beautiful children, Nicole and Ryan brought to him was amazing to behold. The legacy of memories either in Maui at Christmas, or Sakinaw Lake on long summer days will live with us forever.

Sean’s wide circle of friends extend back to his days at Glenmore Elementary School and Sentinel High School. As well as a large contingent of buddies he shared so many great times with, he will be dearly missed. Sean was known for his great sense of humour and friendly ease that was apparent as soon as you met him.
For the past 30 years Sean was a respected Vancouver developer and was proud of his partnership in the Kitsilano restaurant, Local Public Eatery.
With Sean, you always knew where you stood he was genuine in all aspects of his life. Sean enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially the many hours spent with his friends on the golf course at Capilano.

Sean was predeceased by his mother Joyce and is survived by his father Wesley.

Sean leaves behind in sadness his devoted wife Meghan, his children Nicole and Ryan (their mother Robyn), Meghan’s children Calum, Matthew, Riley and Emma.
Also mourning Sean’s loss are his sisters Devon and Suzanne (Jason) and his nephews, Jacob, Garrett, James, Zach, and nieces Emma and Thea.
Sean was the anchor of our family and we feel utterly adrift.
A celebration of Sean’s Life will be held at Capilano Golf and Country Club Friday June 26th, 2015 between 4-6pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Vancouver (bigbrothersbigsisters.ca).
