Obituary for Paul Funn Lee

Paul Funn Lee
Lee, Paul Funn
April 28, 1929 – Aug 20, 2016
Paul passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness. He was one of 9 children born to Sing Wong and Yip Lee initially living in Chatham and Windsor Ontario before moving to Vancouver at the age of 15. He graduated from Britannia High School in 1949 and the University of British Columbia in 1951. Paul worked from a young age in the family businesses: a laundry; a restaurant and a grocery store. After his father died when he was 8 years old he was a great support to his mom and siblings. He is lovingly remembered for his generosity and kindness by his wife Xiao Qun Huang (Tina), his children Wayne (Patti), Brenda (Greg) and Wendy (Dave) and Tina’s son, Min Hui Yao. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret, Mary and brother Jack (Dorothy), first wife Josie, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Paul believed in hard work and was proud to be the first licensed chartered accountant of Chinese descent in BC. He was an honored member of the Lee Benevolent Association, Tai Shan section. When he wasn’t working he was fulfilling his passion for gardening and traveling, visiting many countries often with family and close friends.
There will be a celebration of life on Monday, August 29th at 12:00 noon at the West Vancouver United Church followed by a tea. A family burial is scheduled for the Capilano View Cemetery at 3pm and a memorial dinner will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to the Lee’s Benevolent Association of Vancouver or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Paul’s name.
