Our Family Serving Your Family

The McKenzie Family has been serving families since 1946. Unlike other Funeral Homes, who may be a corporation or who offer minimal services, our family will walk you through every detail to make sure you and your family are taken care of. The McKenzie Difference

Available 24/7

We know other funeral homes and businesses say they are available 24/7 but they might use a call center or have you leave messages to a voicemail. Not us, our family personally answers every call no matter the time. It's part of our service to take care of you and your family at a difficult time.

Personalized Services

As Funeral Directors, we not only provide services for Cremation and Burial we can also provide catering services, personalized stationary items, video tributes, engraving, and much more. Every family will receive one on one attention and service from us at all times.

We Own & Operate our Own Crematorium

You can rest assured your loved one is in our care at all times. Other funeral homes may contract out to another crematorium which can cause delays of up to 2-3 weeks to receive your loved ones cremains. With us owning our own crematorium your family will not have to wait excess periods of time for your loved ones cremains. Also owning our own crematorium can give you peace of mind and comfort knowing our staff are the ones who handle the cremations, not someone you have never met before.

Our Funeral Home is a Family Home

Your loved one will always be in our care at our funeral home after the death occurs. Other funeral homes in the area can shelter a deceased in a warehouse or other storage facility. Not us, we tell every family we serve that there loved one will be in our care at our comfortable and peaceful funeral home.

No Up Selling, Just Honesty

Find our prices for both cremation and burial services directly on our website here. We want to educate our families so they can make the right choices for them and their family. Our goal is to take care of you and your family, not our bottom line.

Online Memorials & Planning

Our world and they way we communicate is changing, so is the way we remember our loved ones. We offer, at no charge, every family a personalized Book of Memories page to share the life and memories of their loved one. You can also pre-plan and arrange your funeral online with our online quote builders.

What Families are Saying

Our Story

Our family, "The McKenzie Family", have been in the Funeral Profession since 1946 with Don McKenzie working at various funeral homes in Vancouver & West Vancouver.

Don met Jessie and married in 1948. In 1968 they were given the opportunity to purchase Hollyburn Funeral Home in West Vancouver from the "Walsh" family. As in true family funeral home tradition, George McKenzie (eldest son of Don & Jessie) began working at Hollyburn at the age of fourteen answering phones and helping his dad on services. George then went to B.C.I.T where he received his Diploma & License as a Funeral Director & Licensed Embalmer. He also received the "Professionalism Award" for his class.

In 1988, George & Mildred bought Squamish Funeral Chapel & installed their own crematorium to service both Hollyburn & the Sea to Sky Corridor.

After the passing of Don & Jessie McKenzie, George & Mildred separated from Hollyburn Funeral Home in 1995. Mildred & George continued to serve families on the North Shore and after several requests from families and clergy, decided to open an office in West Vancouver, McKenzie Funeral Services. They have brought their own special personalized service back to the North Shore and Lower Mainland. They believe a funeral is similar to other ceremonies in our lives. Like a graduation ceremony, a wedding, or baptism a funeral is a rite of passage by which we recognize an important event that distinguishes our lives.

You can often hear them saying:
"No two people are alike, so no two funerals should be the same"

In recent years, their son, Mark McKenzie, and son in law, Geoff Fahlman have stepped into the family business. Making McKenzie Funeral Services a third generation family funeral home.

Our reputation for providing the highest quality of service grew, and today we are privileged to serve hundreds of area families each year.
